Rejoice | Hattiesburg Christmas Tree Lighting

The City of Hattiesburg will host its annual tree lighting event at Town Square Park on Thursday, December 3. Like many things in 2020, it will look different than in past years to accommodate COVID-19 protocols.

Gathering guidelines from Governor Tate Reeves’ latest executive order limits outdoor gatherings to 100 people. To accommodate these requirements, entrance to the tree lighting will be by reservation only. There are 100 tickets available (up to a max of 8 per reservation) and they can be reserved through Eventbrite. To reserve a space, click the button at the bottom of this page.

Should the governor modify his orders and increase the capacity guidelines before December 3, the City will release additional tickets.

This year, the lighting event will stand alone with a small performance by a local band beforehand.

The agenda for the event includes:

  • 5:30 p.m. – Town Square Park Opens
  • 6 p.m. – Entertainment
  • 6:30 p.m. – Remarks and Tree Lighting

Participants who reserve a spot will check-in when they arrive at the park and will then be provided a number that correlates with a reserved space to accommodate the number in the reservation’s party.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets. A chair station to check out seating will also be available.

Standard COVID-19 protocols will be observed and masks are required.

For those who choose to forego the in-person experience, the event will be streamed live on the City of Hattiesburg’s Facebook page (facebook.com/CityofHattiesburg).
