Hattiesburg, Mississippi – On Monday, May 17, contractors began work to mill Hardy Street, between South 21st Avenue and West Pine, as prep work for paving that will go down in the coming weeks.
While much needed for this well-traveled corridor for Hattiesburg, it will come with a few inconveniences.
For the next few weeks (pending weather), Hardy Street will experience one-lane closures while traffic continues to flow. Some side streets will experience rolling closures.
The City asks all motorists to be cautious while driving this stretch and adhere to all safety measures in place (barricades, flaggers, etc.). The total cost for the project is $961,000, with allocations from the legislature’s 2018 special session to include $400,000 of that cost.
