Hattiesburg City Offices to Close Tuesday Due to Wintry Weather
Hattiesburg, Mississippi  – Hattiesburg City Hall, Municipal Court and other city offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, due to anticipated wintry weather. Public works and public safety services, including police and fire departments, will remain operational.

The Hattiesburg City Council will hold a special called meeting on Friday, January 24, at 3 p.m. to address the agenda originally set for Tuesday, January 21.

Hub City Transit will also suspend operations on Tuesday, January 21.

All Municipal Court cases scheduled for Tuesday, January 21, will be rescheduled. Defendants, affiants and other parties who were notified to appear in court on January 21 will receive new court date notices within the next few weeks. Anyone who does not receive a notice is encouraged to contact the court to confirm their rescheduled court date.

The National Weather Service forecasts 2 to 4 inches of snow starting before dawn on Tuesday and continuing into the afternoon. Hazardous travel conditions are expected, and residents are encouraged to avoid driving if possible.

The Forrest County 361 Shelter (946 Sullivan Drive) will open at 6 p.m. on Monday, January 20, and remain open through 8 a.m. on Thursday, January 23. Individuals seeking shelter are encouraged to bring personal items, such as bedding and essential medications. The facility will be available to anyone needing a safe and warm place to stay during this period.
