The Mississippi Regional Housing Authority No. VIII, in partnership with HUD and the City of Hattiesburg will host their second annual Housing Resource and Health Fair and Disaster Relief Effort for tornado victims of Hattiesburg, Miss., and surrounding areas on March 16, 2017 at the Hattiesburg Intermodal Facility (Train Depot), 308 Newman Street, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
This event is a free one-day voluntary initiative that is geared towards bringing together community organizations, agencies, and entities interested in assisting individuals in need of housing and/or health/medical/financial assistance and help them get a step closer to obtaining self-sufficiency. These services are free and will include, but not limited to, vision screenings, diabetes testing, blood pressure checks, free confidential rapid HIV testing, down payment/rental assistance, various healthcare and housing resources and social services. Refreshments will be provided during the event.
The Mississippi Regional Housing Authority No. VIII will have representatives from their Affordable Housing and Family Self-Sufficiency programs to answer questions and provide applications to the community. The City of Hattiesburg, HUD and various other vendors will be on hand to also answer questions and help those who are in need of assistance due to the recent tornados that affected the residents and businesses in the city and surrounding cities.
This will be the second Housing Resource and Health Fair to be hosted by Mississippi Regional Housing Authority No. VIII in Hattiesburg. The purpose is to work with each vendor with the goal of providing information, community resources, and to provide a better quality of life for MRHA No. VIII residents and surrounding communities.
