The City of Hattiesburg has partnered with the Southeast Mississippi Rural Health Initiative and La Mexicana to host the 2015 El Grito Latin Festival which will be held on Saturday, September 12 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Town Square Park. The park is located at 100 Main Street in Hattiesburg. El Grito Latin Festival is a multicultural event to celebrate Mexican Independence (September 16) and kick off Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15).
The City of Hattiesburg aims for this festival, which is free to the public, to be a special tribute to Hispanic tradition. “The El Grito Latin Festival is a fun, family oriented event highlighting live entertainment, delicious food from local vendors, community resources, arts and crafts, games, and much more,” said City of Hattiesburg E3 Health Initiative Coordinator Kathryn Rehner. Participants of the festival are encouraged to bring blankets and/or lawns chairs as they celebrate the unique and diverse Hispanic cultures in Hattiesburg.
MEDIA NOTE:
Media are welcome to attend the festival and interview attendees, community resources, and vendors. For more information or to schedule interviews, contact Kathryn Rehner at 601.606.5434.
