Position: Deputy Municipal Clerk (Part-time)

Division: City Clerk’s Office

Rate of Pay: $15.00/hr.

Nature of Work:
This is specialized clerical work with responsibility for coordinating election activities and verifying information related to voter registration in support of primary and general elections.

Examples of Work:
• Checks records; processes and maintains a variety of forms and records used in preparation for and during primary and general elections.
• Receives, processes and completes absentee ballot requests.
• Answers phones and provides information regarding voter registration schedule and locations, as well as election hours and polling place locations.
• Receives statement of financial interest and expense reports from candidates; checks forms for completeness.
• Performs related work as required.

Skills and Qualifications:
Must have valid MS Driver’s License. High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent desired. Requires ability to type a minimum of 35-40 wpm accurately. Must be computer literate and have excellent communication skills. Knowledgeable of applicable Municipal & State election laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the registration and conduction of elections. Ability to successfully maintain considerable contact with the public.

(Although the City pays for the bonding process, a successful candidate must complete the Public Official’s Application and Indemnity Agreement before any offer of employment may be extended.)
