Position: Custodian

Rate of Pay: $13.00/hr.

Nature of Work:
Work involves following instructions and applying the knowledge of equipment, materials, and techniques to perform custodial care for buildings. The incumbent will perform tasks through physical strength, agility, and dexterity.

Examples of Work:
• Cleans and maintains City of Hattiesburg Community Centers.
• Cleans and sanitizes restrooms, restocks as needed.
• Maintains and reports supplies needed to meet job requirements.
• Empties trash and cleans surfaces.
• Ensures City grounds/areas are clean and orderly.
• Maintains and ensures buildings are secured nightly by locking doors and closing windows.
• Cleans windows and conducts minor repairs.
• Works scheduled events and pays attention to detail.
• Reports problems encountered to the Division Manager.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or G.E.D. Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions (in English). Must be able to work nights and weekends. Must have and maintain a valid Mississippi Driver’s License. Must have the ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with others. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. One (1) year experience in custodial care preferred.
