Hattiesburg, Mississippi – The City of Hattiesburg has launched an online survey for Hattiesburg area residents to provide feedback regarding the challenges of east-west travel inside the city.
This questionnaire will be used as part of the city’s application for a planning grant under the U.S. Department of Transportation’s RAISE (Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity) program.
If awarded, the planning grant would assist the city in developing conceptual design, pre-engineering, environmental studies and needed right-of-way identification for additional and enhanced east-west corridors in the city’s transportation system.
“Hattiesburg has experienced tremendous growth over the past few decades, which in turn presents challenges for mobility and access” Mayor Toby Barker said. “We recognize that solutions on this issue are long-term projects, but we must begin taking concrete steps toward those solutions right now.”
Barker announced the survey on social media Thursday (1/18) afternoon, and within 12 hours, over 250 responses were received.
