American influence on the development of Western music has been vast in many genres, including classical music. As a land of opportunity and a safe haven for immigrants, America attracted such European luminaries as Igor Stravinsky, Arnold Schoenberg, and Paul Hindemith. They established schools of composition leading to an “American” classical music. Theresa Sanchez and Rachel Ciraldo are again collaborating to present a showcase of music by influential American composers. Joined by special guest conductor, Jay Dean, the program includes a piano quintet by one of the Boston Six, Arthur Foote, Appalachian Spring for chamber orchestra by the “Dean of American Composers,” Aaron Copland, and American Canvas for flute, cello, and piano by Pulitzer Prize and 3-time Grammy winner, Jennifer Higdon.
A special Red, White and Bourbon ticket allows patrons to enjoy a wine and bourbon pairing experience prior to and between selections.
