Hattiesburg, Mississippi – On Wednesday, September 28, 2022, Mayor Toby Barker gathered with event organizers across Hattiesburg to discuss and declare October as the “Greatest Month to be a Hattiesburger.”

As a declaration that dates back to 2018, Barker takes time each year to review a number of large-scale events taking place throughout the year while also highlighting movers and shakers in the community who help make them happen.

“With the best forecast for desirable weather, October often ends up being our busiest and best month,” said Barker. “From seasonal staples like Live at Five and Halloween in the Avenues to historic annual events like Mobile Street Festival – there’s a little bit of everything for everyone.”

The month kicks off with Live at Five and Mobile Street Festival and will end with the Halloween Parade on Saturday, October 29 and Trick-or-Treating throughout Hattiesburg on Monday, October 31. For a full list of October events, visit http://hattiesburgms.com/october.
