This morning, Mayor Toby Barker reiterated two actions that will continue to limit the potential spread of COVID-19.
1. If you don’t have an emergency need, do not go to the emergency room. This ties up critical emergency services and can cause an overload on our health care system. IF you have symptoms (fever, cough + shortness of breath), CALL your primary care physician or an immediate care clinic FIRST.
2. If you are 65+ or have an underlying/chronic illness, continue to avoid large crowded spaces. Staying home is key in limiting COVID-19’s potential risk to your health.
From Mayor Barker:
“As we near the end of the weekend, I know that doing things differently – as individuals, as organizations, as churches, as a community – can be uncomfortable and disruptive. But understand that this is not like the challenges we have tackled before. This isn’t a tornado or a hurricane, where the event happens and within a week or two we get back to what is somewhat normal. This will require us to change our habits and our lifestyle for some time. It will require us to stretch ourselves and embrace an abundance of empathy for our seniors and those who are most vulnerable in our community.”
